A bakery that I used to go to decorated their cupcakes with sprinkles and a simple plastic figurine. To appeal to boys they had green frosted cupcakes with army men and for girls they had pink frosted cupcakes with ballerinas. I always liked the idea of adding figurines as a quick & easy way to dress up cupcakes. Here is a take on the same idea, but it uses plastic frogs. To make the lily pads we used store bought sugar cookie dough and a heart-shaped cookie cutter (cut off the pointy end of the heart). Ice the cookies with a bright green royal icing and apply the plastic frog. Then ice cupcakes in a bright blue frosting and add the lily pad w/ frog on top!
