Forgive me for the lack of recent postings. My mind is still on vacation plus I have been busy working on the invitation for A's baby shower, so I have very little to show for myself. However, since I never shared my modifications to last year's Mardi Gras Bake Sale treats I thought this would be the perfect time. I slightly updated the front of the packaging by changing the font to Jessica Hische's Buttermilk font (love it, can't get enough of it...also using it on the shower invites). Then I totally redid the back of the packaging. I know, who looks at the back of packaging!?! Why bother!?! Yes, I asked myself the very same things, yet I couldn't help myself. Besides the back of the packaging did look really bad. So I gave it a little update to match the front of the labels and I added a riddle/joke. This way when the kids tore into their goodies and just happened to be bored (while at a carnival--yeah, right) and just happened to look at the back of the packaging they would have something funny to say to their friends. At least the boys and I had fun collecting kid-friendly jokes (I will post these as soon as I find them).
Oh yeah, the other thing I did different from last year was to make chocolate covered pretzels rods dipped in mini-M&M's. These were a big hit, the M&M's make them a lot more appealing and tasty than just chocolate covered pretzels, however, they are a little tricky to apply. You just need to be patient and wait for the chocolate to cool enough so the M&M's don't just slide off the pretzel. And if you wait too long and the chocolate becomes too hard, then just apply another coat of the melted chocolate and try again.
