I have a weakness. A very strong weakness. When it comes to cake stands, I just cannot withstand their temptation. Perhaps it is the lure of a future dessert presented grandly that draws me in. Maybe its their connection to parties and cherished events that make me unable to resist. Whatever the reason, they have me at 'hello'.
Last Friday I was innocently shopping (kid free) at our local outlet mall. Without the boys in tow I was able to pour over each store's inventory--not necessarily a good thing. However, with a few of my favorite stores under my belt and no purchases I was feeling quite proud of my rare restraint. Enter: cute, ruffly, white ceramic cake stand...and there was where my downfall began. Not only did I break down and buy my umpteenth cake stand, but I bought three of them! The sales lady kindly inquired if I was having a party. As I was unprepared for her direct attempt to expose my vulnerability, I weakly uttered a sheepish 'No' and quickly paid. Regardless of my brief shame, when I left the store and headed home I felt happy, I knew that some day my cake stands would be put to good use.
Little did I know that someone else was putting them to good use! Check out the latest dessert buffet from the fabulous Amy Atlas featuring the newest members of my cake stand family!!! That Amy Atlas has really good taste (and probably a weakness for cake stands too).

P.S. The cake stands are from Crate & Barrel.
I have been inexplicably drawn to cake stands lately. I need...no...WANT a cake stand, but I haven't found the perfect one yet unless I order online.
