Yesterday the boys started third grade. I can't believe they are getting so old! I remember my third grade very fondly, I hope the boys will do the same. To help ease the craziness of the *First Day of School* I made *Monster Cookies* for the boys to enjoy and to hand out their teachers (past and present). I followed the recipe from the Baked: New Frontiers in Baking cook book. Actually, I never heard about Monster Cookies until getting the Baked book. They are a classic cookie and are typically made with peanut butter, rolled oats and M&M's. Of course you have to use a full sized ice cream scoop to scoop out the dough so you end up with monster-sized delicious cookies. Download the Cookie Band HERE.
For the packaging the cookies these simple steps were followed:
1. Wrap cookies in parchment or wax paper. Tape on back side to hold paper in place.
2. Place band over the center of cookie (use a piece of double sided-tape to hold in place).
3. Close band around cookie and seal with sticker or tape. If I had remembered, I would have also tied with baker's twine.
4. Enjoy or distribute.
P.S. I will upload the file for the 'Happy First Day of School' band shortly.
Loved the idea! please let me know when you post the First day of school band... it's adorable! and here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we're almost ending our school year. School will star again in March ;)
Thank you! Cristina
